When I bough my last laptop, it was my understanding that the IBM Thinkpads had the best quality keyboards. I had a dell before that and hated the keyboard. Who has the best quality keyboards now in terms of tactile feel, ergonomics, ease of use, etc. for extended typing and editing documents? Any particular models? I'm looking for something in the lightweight portable category -- not a giganto desktop replacement. Preferably not too expensive.

The new levono IBM's (they are replacements for the thinkpads) are a good choice. I also recommend Fujitsu.

If you are so worried about the ergonomics, may I remind you that you can keep the best ergonomic external keyboard in the place you work most. But of course it wont help if you happen to work a lot on the move.

I know well only the brands Acer and HP. Out of these I think Acer is more ergonomic in feedback. But that may be because now I am used to it.

The Apple Macbook Pro has the best keyboard going. The keys have a soft touch to them, they and easy to work with and have a backlight installed behind them. The keys feel nice and soft and is generally a great keyboard.

(Lenovo) IBM Thinkpad.

In fact, they make the best name brand computer (when I say name brand I mean the BIG companies)

I like the R series, but different people have different needs.

Macintosh has the best keyboard in my opinion, they're all fairly terrible on the PC side.
