Dear Stumper, what a wonderful question. I noticed it and knew that I should choose you. Each evening I look for a kind soul to touch with a little gift of happiness. Tonight, I want to offer you this as a small reward for your many loving acts over the years. Make one small wish before you go to sleep tonight. Close your eyes and think of it, then open your eyes and send it flying up to heaven. It can't be anything too big (like world peace, ha ha, because I am not of a level where I could do that). But I am at a level where I can help in little ways (like finding things or having a boy call or something like that). So make your wish! I will be listening. And remember, you are a great person who deserves to be loved.

I know the saying, and - why not make a wish? I saw a big what you describe as a falling star - meteor when I was in Australia in 1980. The term for a big blazer like that one was is a Fireball. The best meteor (again - falling star) shower that I ever saw was in Massachusetts in late 2001. Th Leonid meteor shower that late night/early morning was absolutely fabulous!!! The best time to see them is after midnight, as the Earth "approaches" (faces into) the meteor particles in space that it encounters. The "showers" happen at regular timesevery year. They result from the remnants of comets that we pass through. All very Beautiful-!

Actually, falling stars are much more common than people perceive them to be. It's just tough to see them under smog, cloud cover and city lights.
The best times and locations for viewing falling stars is camping on a crystal clear night on top of a mountain. You'll be surprised at how many you can see in only a few minutes.
And no, I've never been quick enough to make a true wish.

Of course! I love falling stars. I remember when I was a kid we used to go down to the beach and lay there and watch for them and make wishes. I don't remember if any of those came true. But I know it doesn't matter because those memories are worth more than any wish. The sad part though? That beach is an apartment building now. That's progress for you.

I have seen a falling star, made a wish and heard of that old saying. But I don't think that the wish came true, although, to be honest, I don't remember what it was.

Yeah my mom told me that. I've seen a few falling stars and wished on a few too. In a month or two it will be prime time for falling stars as we pass through some sort of meteor field or something like that.

I've heard that saying. I saw a falling star once and made a wish and so far it hasn't come true. That was 6 years ago, so I'm thinking it's not going to happen... :o(
