I just went and had a look at the camping store down town for a mag-lite for my dad for fathers day. I didnt realise how much they cost...they are a lot more expensive then i thought they would be. Was this just an expensive shop?? it was $60 for the size i wanted....is that around the usual cost?? (In Australia)

Mag-lites are expensive, but they are a durable and long lasting product. I own a couple of them and they are both over twenty years old and other than replacing the batteries, they are extremely reliable. They turn on when you need them, and the heavier ones can be used as a weapon. They are the standard issue for most police personnel, so they have to be rugged. In the USA a small version, which would be considered a pocket flashlight would be around $25, so a larger standard size would be at least $65 to 70 depending on where you purchase them. I don't know what the exchange or rate differences are between the USA and Australia; but that sounds comparable to me. I'm sure your Dad would think it was a great gift, and would get a lot of use out of it. Have a good night.
