Ok recently I have been looking at different things on the internet pertaining to the war and such, things like conspiracy theory on 9/11 and some of my friends stopped by tonight and talked to my husband and I about these things going on as well as the beheading of Nick Berg which by the way they made me watch, I kept closing my eyes but saw the beheading taking place....now I am totally freaking out, crying, scared of life and whats going on with our world. I like to sometimes forget what is taking place in Iraq because it allows me some peace not to know all the negative....Please give me some POSITIVE feedback on how to cope with this!

It is hard to deal with and if you just think about it it will drive you crazy. But if you DO something, like write letters to editor and congress, form discussion groups, do things to support the troops (besides the car magnets), you will feel much better about it.

I have a problem with the "made you watch." What kind of friends are these?

God made the world. He made us to live in it and equipped us to do so. While there are certainly evil people in the world, there are so many more good ones. Before 9/11, the biggest act of terrorism was done by a group of AMERICANS when they blew up the Murrah office building in Oklahoma. They did it because of some notion of a "conspiracy" by the government. Between 1870 and 1940, somewhere between 5000 and 15000 black people were lynched in the American South. People would bring their kids to watch. They were convinced they were doing the right thing! All of which is to say that, bad as the Nick Berg murder was, it wasn't new.

Now, making you feel better by saying how bad things are is not my intent. I'm just pointing out that these things have always been around (before the Internet, you just didn't see it) and yet, the sun is spectacularly beautiful in the morning. You children, if you have any, are still precious. People still help you. THESE things are more real and closer to you. Every day. So, think ablut that. You shouldn't forget about Nick Berg. Just keep it in perspective. And be careful in your kitchen and driveway. You are more likely to have accidents there that do more harm to you than the evil doers.

I occasionally write to:
comments@whitehouse.gov
with the understanding that the president might see what I've written and sometimes that makes me feel a little better. I stay away from conspiracy theories, because extra questions in my mind without answers doesn't seem to help me.
You can't un-see what you've seen, but you can find ways to respond to it honestly like writing letters, refusing to hate, applying love and respect to the parts of the world that you come into contact with. Ask yourself what right things-no matter how small- you can do, what might help even slightly. Doing something will help you overcome feeling helpless, but fear with inaction can lead to feeling paralyzed.
And take breaks from the media coverage- it's addictive in the worst way.

I don't know if this will help, but in my mind it relates. Back in 1986 I was robbed at knifepoint. For days, months even, I thought about it, when I didn't want to, when I was tired and not able to stop myself from thinking of it. Like a lot of things in life, it was horrible and hung around like a bad smell.

There are a lot of good things in life also. Most of them are NOT in the news, so you have to go out and find them. A neighbor's small dog who likes to make friends with everyone. The lady at the post office who treats everyone nicely even though it's a sucky job -- just because she's a nice lady. The fact that it's a beautiful blue day and you can hear dogs barking and children playing.

You HAVE to let that into your life, too.

By the way -- I am fine, not hurt in the robbery, and my wallet came back 10 years later from the post office; i don't know how they found me... THAT is actually what sticks with me... that someone in the post office knew what happened and made an effort to get it back to me.

Your problem is the problems of the people all across world. I have written many blogs with clarity of future. I hope it could be useful. If time permits, pl read them.

Unlearning is the need of the hour. It is simple. It can be achieved through simple steps. It provides internal strengths necessary to achieve excelence for the individuals, families and societies.

A new theory of human growth have been developed. Seven critical factors have been earmarked. You will be able to relate yourself with these factors. The importance of these factors have been explained through real life incidences for systematic growth. A better understanding of these factors helps individuals, organisations and nations to achieve unlearning. It will provide a glimpse of fifth generation of time management.

All these U can find in my group writings too.

violence never solves anything. that goes double for war, because it ends up causing more problems that there were at the beginning. the invasion in a iraq is a perfect example. instead of freaking out, channel that energy into something positive, like anti-war activism. the US is very powerful in many ways OTHER THAN military. I would fear our own greedy, manipulative, corrupt government (that's a bi-partisan statement) more than a few religious extremists that really aren't that much more extreme than US Christian extremists. you will not get much "positive" from a situation like the one Bush created in Iraq, but don't turn a blind eye to it...or we'll be doomed to enter even more mind-numbingly stupid wars of conquest in the future. the fear of war and evil can be sometimes overwhelming, try to transform that fear into disdane for war and ALL that enter into it (terrorists and governments alike, regardless of their meaningless rationalizations).

We live in a world full of hate.. there is nothing that you or I can do to change that. All we can do, is live our life to the best we can, not allowying these weasels the joy of knowing they have scared us into not living!

There are good things in this world, you just have to look harder to find them! Dont give up! Be happy with your husband and live dont just exist :-)

Take care & Be Safe

It is normal to be anxious and concerned by the war, especially with all the crap from all different sides that is coming at you. You just need to decide how much of your life you want to spend worrying about something that is seriously out of your control. Focus on your life, and other things that make you happy.
