I always used dumbells to do my chest, but i'm wondering if anyone here works-out without a spot and didn't get any injured or the olympic bar getting stuck to your chest.

If you really can't get a spotter don't put the clips the keep the weights from falling off. If you can't get the bar back on the rack, slowly put the bar on your chest, roll it to your stomach, and "shake" the weights off.

But a spotter is best

Got stuck with 200 pounds on my chest, the first time I tried it. I had to drop my legs off the bench & roll the bar down & onto the bench without crushing any body-parts.

Just glad I was enough of a wimp to have trouble with 200 pounds - had it been much more I'd have been in big trouble. I did eventually get up to 250 pounds - but had recurring shoulders ligament/tendon problems & gave up weight-training. Do more cycling, rollerblading & trekking now.

i workout by myself with the olympic bar but I don't put on a lot of weight. If you are average size, the routine I do is:

3 Sets of 10 reps, 135 lbs.

It'll give you a real burn but not a lot to make you drop the weight on your chest and not be able to pick it up.

Just workout safe and know your limits. I hope that helps.
