Is my friend a vigilante ??????

My friend and some of his buddies go into chat rooms and pretend to be children. They get pedophiles to meet them places. they then beat them when they get there. I didnt know what to say when they told me they do this. Do you think it is wrong they do this?????????????? I just laughed

Tell you wot mate, why don't you ask to tag along next time they've set a "trap" and watch how they get all shifty-eyed and squirmy. They'll probably touch their faces or chins while they come up with excuses as to why you can't go - textbook sign of lying.

First of all, law enforcement officers who set up stings like these go through years of training before they can expertly mimic the things a child might say or how they would type. Even then, most predators can sniff out a rat from ten miles away. Pedophiles aren't stupid, in fact, they're usually smarter than average which is what makes them so good at what they do.

Second, do your friends ever have scratches or swelling on their knuckles? Bruises on the outside of their forearms or other defensive injuries? No one is going to lie down and let a handful of hooligans have a go at them without putting up some kind of a fight.

Either you're toying with our minds, or you really are naive mate.

i would say that on i both agree and disagree.

for one sooner or later your friends are going to run into some people that will be smarter than they are....think about it

if someone goew out to meet someone and they get jumped by
a group of (probally teenagers) people.

well they know how it happened, and they know how to find them again,,just continue to use the same chat room and waite for similar behavior...but the next time they may bring a gun or a few friends or a few friends with guns or bats..

your friends are looking to get hurt or killed. and if not that jailed because to the police it is still just aggrivated assault.
it does not matter what the person that they beat was there for it matters that they are not cops and they are attacking people.

and how do they really know that the people that they beat up are the same people that were on the intrenet with them?

and people like me that refuse to watch a crime happen without doing something about it......the differance is i do not look for trouble. but when i see someone getting mugged etc. i step in to stop it if i can. however my acts are protected under the good semeratin laws.

perverted justice.com is a website that outs people that solicit minors for sex online. and dateline NBC has an entire program where they trick these people to houses with hidden cameras and out them on national television and then the local cops arrest them on their way out.........i love that show, just because it sends a message that we will not put up with these sick bastards any more.

Yes, I would consider them Vigilantes. It'd be one ting if they went into the rooms and agreed to meet the people, and then turned them over to police with a printout of the conversation- however, they take it into their own hands, and serve their own brand of 'justice.

Yes, it is horrible what pedophiles do- what any rapist does is horrible. However, beating them doesn't get them off the street, it doesn't solve anything.

So yes, it is wrong... while they may have good intetnions, it is wrong.. and if they get caught, they could get in serious trouble themselves for their own actions.

Vigilantes are weird breed. They're kind of like hunters ...the actual game is un important it's the hunt that matters. It used to be that it wasn't so unfavorable to lynch a black person. When that fell out of favor there were always homos. Pedophiles have few supporters but I believe both they and your friends have major problems.

Yes, its vigilantism. Getting those whack jobs is something the police should be doing. I'd be surprised if he really was doing this, though.
