It is VERY common to go into labor after being 'checked'
toward the end of your pregnancy.
Drink some water sometimes you can get contractions or false labor when you are dehydrated.
Lie down and rest for about an hour.
If your back ache and pain increases and/ or
your contractions start to get 5-10 minutes apart and this continues for an hour call your Dr and tell him again.
Try to write down
each contraction and how long it is so that you can tell your Dr or Ob nurse when you call. They are more interested if there is a pattern to your pain
All my best to you and your birth and delivery and your new little one!
p.s. You can have some bloody show anywhere from a week before all the way to right before you give birth. Therefore, you could be waiting for bloody show and be in active labor. So dont wait for THAT!:)

Congrats on the baby...i am also 39 weeks, im due monday, and like u ive had pains no bloody show or anything but i always look at the time when i have my pains, if they are 5 mins apart i would go to the hospital but mine have been 30mins or 45 mins sometimes. so just keep a look at the time and if they get close then go get checked...the worst thing they will do is send u home, and its normal for women to go in to the hospital thinking they are in labor and not actually there yet...trust me...good luck with everything

well labour can start 3 different ways, first your waters might break or you could start having contractions or u could have ur show up to a week before, there is also what somepeople call back labour where u feel most of the pain in the back. but back pain can be quite common try lying down on your side with a pillow between your legs if it doesnt go away go back to your doctor.
i was almost 42 weeks when i gave birth i had to be induced i am 31 weeks pregnant now with my second nad i have constant back pain. and i find the pillow thing does the trick.
u are 39 weeks so u could be very close to going into laour. congratulations and good luck.

You could be in the very early stages of labor with it being only a backache. I was in labor for a week with my first daughter and it began with mild contractions and a backache.
My suggestion is this: Don't panic. Relax and wait until the backache becomes more painful than aspirin or tylenol will help. Keep an eye open for the mucus plug and pay close attention to what your body is telling you.
Good luck!

I had really bad back aches the day before I went into labor. It was so bad at times I couldn't move. But I wouldn't go to the hospital until your water breaks. Call your doctors office or the hospital and see if you should come in.

It could be anything, pregnancy is so individual for every woman. If you're feeling contractions--real ones, they'll start out like a bad cramp and progress in frequency and in intensity. If they are braxton hicks they can be anything from feeling like a tight band around your tummy to an annoying cramp (non painful, just annoying) and they'll be irregular. If they are regular, and six minutes or less and increasing in intensity, call your doc or the hospital. If they're irregular, try getting up and walking around for a while and see if they'll stop. Congrats mamma! You're almost there!
With my daughter I had no braxton hicks, with my son I had the last 8 weeks of constant braxton hicks.....

Yes!!!! With my second child born 7-20-05, I was 2 weeks early with him. I went for a routine check-up, I was dilated already and she did something to my cervix and that night, I a weird aching, similar to cramps so I called her and she just told me to go to the hospital and sure enough I was 5 cm dilated. 5 hours later Tyler was born.

well it could be the examination may have upset the apple cart. if they keep coming and going then it well could be sometimes labour is in the back I hope for your sake it is not going to be in the back as I found this more hard to cope with then when the pains were in the front. also to tell when the pains are coming put your hand on your belly if the belly is also getting hard and soft as the pains come and go. Go to the hospital as you would be in labour. Good luck
