I agree with the previous posts that your baby probably won't be protected against diseases that early. Also, check with the airline. I vaguely remember hearing a story about a baby that was born early far from where the family home was and that they had to wait a few weeks for the child to be old enough to fly home. If you do decide to fly your baby somewhere, please pay the extra fare for a seat of its own and have him/her ride in their car seat while on the plane. Babies held on an adults lap are often killed during minor emergencies when the rest of the people who are buckled in are fine.

No, this isn't safe. They have diseases there that we don't have here--even some that have died out elsewhere but are still alive and killing people in countries other than the US and Canada. (e.g. typhoid fever and rabies, to name a few) When adults travel abroad, they have to be vaccinated for certain diseases. I don't know if your baby could be vaccinated against these considering she's probably only had her first few immunizations here in the US. If you can't take her, either leave her with a trusted family member (her grandmother) or don't go. Which is more important...your baby's life or traveling to Asia? You have the rest of your life to travel.

Don't you think that's kind of cruel to do that to a little human beign who is only days old? You're supposed to be home, in a peaceful, nuturing, bonding environment, not schlepping a baby 1/2 way around the world. What kind of GERMS will there be in the air? It sounds totally cruel to me.

this is definatly a question for your peditrician. my first instinct would be to say no because of a baby's immune system is not fully developed. just think about how often full grown adults with mature immune systems get sick after taking plane rides. now think your little one month old baby taking those same plane rides. probably not a good idea.

Not really babies don't have good immune systems. Most of the time it takes about six weeks before the're okay to be around people, but you still are risking your babies health.

NO!!! Babies immune systems haven't developed and can easily catch something that the Philippines don't immunize for and can get a horrible disease. I wouldn't risk it.

I agree with Violet Pearl. Although not quite so passionately... Your baby will not have the proper protection so soon. Listen to your doctor, sometimes they actually know something right! LOL

i does not. There are too many frightening issues he can %. up. enable him get his photos and then wait yet another month so his immune equipment can improve the immunities until now you circulate. otherwise i might say you're putting your toddler at pointless risk.

My pediatrician wouldn't let me take my newborn out of the city until after six weeks. I wanted to fly back to Chicago for my nephew's bar mitzvah, but I wasn't allowed to take the baby on a plane...he told me to wait....I'd ask your pediatrician.

Usually, it's best to wait 6 weeks before a baby is introduced to many people. I suppose if you make sure people wash their hands before holding her and so forth, she should be OK.
