Go to the store and buy some Zanfel. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. Put just a LITTLE dab on the poison ivy dampen the skin and rub the Zanfel on it for about a minute. Then rinse off. This cuts through the oil that causes the poison ivy to spread. It will dry up much faster and not spread.

Hello,
As was already posted any anti-histamine will help your allergy symptoms. Yes, it will go away on its own, but the scratching in your sleep can leave scars.
I would clip your fingernails as low as is comfotable for you.
You might also try applying household vinegar to the affected area. Sure it will stink, but should neutralize any chemicals reactions.
If you live near a clean creek then you can dig up a small bucket of red clay. Just apply the clay to the affected area a few hours before bedtime so that it is dry before you lay down. This will draw out any toxins while you sleep. Tea Tree oil is another effective natural treatment that may or may not work for you. It won't do any harm
Best Wishes

Someone said to wash your bedding - be sure to wash anything else that may have come in contact with the oils from the poison ivy. I went hiking with my dog and kept getting more poison ivy, over and over. Finally the doctor asked if I had a dog. I bathed my dog, and no more poison ivy.

Don't worry it will go away soon. Just keep it clean so that it does't keep spreading.
