moon can not change its size.

Actually that's not entirely true.

New Moons and Full Moons seem bigger because you see them through more of the AIR, thus REFRACTION makes them seem biggers, especially a full moon.

When the moon is at the horizon it "seems" bigger, but it actually isn't.

The size of the moon changes only fractinally, so small you can't really see it for real.

But from a virtual or relative standpoint at the horzion it seem biggers

Three are also the phases of the moon of which half phase seems small because it is near the top of the sky and seen thorugh less air.

That is an illusion.

When you look up at the moon at the top of the sky you are looking throught aobout 100 miles of atomophere.

When you look at the moon at the horizon you are looking through more atmosphere, like maybe 110 miles worth or more.

That spreads the visual image out artiricially.

use a torchlite and shine the beam on the wall. Imagine the torchlite itself is the sun, and the light on the wall is the moon. Now move your hand to block part of the light, your hand is now acting as Earth.

During the movement of the planets, Earth will move and slowly block out the light from the sun. The part of the moon where we can see is the reflected light from the sun. So during the month, there'll be times when earth doesn't block the light and you can see a full moon. Or when earth blocks most of the light and you can only see a small sliver of the moon.

The size of the moon is constant. You wanna say shapes.

The moon just has different phases throughout the month
It changes shapes depends on the location of the moon, the earth and the light of the sun ..

Size as you know refer to the distance ..
The moon travel in an elliptic orbit where in some places it's very close to earth and in other very far from earth ..

When the moon is very close to earth, it appears big .. and when the moon is far, it appears small .. regardless its shape.

the moons shape is constant... they look different from our point of view because of the light reflection. you know that the moon does not have light of its own and the light 'given' off by the moon at night is actually the sun's light being reflected. the position of the moon as it revolves around the globe, varies every day and the amount of area to the side where the sun's light can be reflected changes. so that s how you get the moonto 'change' its shape

i am so sorry if it seems a bit well off...

i think she meant size...
some full moons are bigger than others. but that is just how the moons images reaches us, depending on other conditions...

discregarding the phases of the moon, the moon isnt exactly the same distance from the earth the whole moth, and the angle from which you are seeing it affects its apparent size.

The size of the moon i onstant
you might have wanted to say shape
it depends on the shadow of the earth falling on it (light source:sun)

Which class r u studying? It is not changing it"s shape. When we see from the earth it seem to be changing the shape due to the shadow of the earth hides the light from the sun.

The moon doesn't change it's size. It is just the part that is visible to us that changes.

the earth, sun and moon do not fly in a perfect circle parrallel to one another..... thus they get further apart from each other sometimes,,, and other times they are close to each other.......

there ya have it...... close=big....far away=small
