Dear
if your system is not able to find the HDD how can you scan and defrag the HDD?
hey guess you might have connected the same to your some other PC
now do the following
1. Keep CPU box open Take HDD out. Read all the information written on the HDD case. Some there will be something regarding JUMBER settings.
Set your Jumber for PRIMARY SINGLE, Ensure the the HDD cable is working properly
2. Reconnect the HDD to your IDE 1 slot. Don't forget to disconnect the other devices like CD drive etc from IDE slots
3. Start the system Go to BIOS and give the Primary IDE option to AUTO. or if your BIOS allow an auto detection of HDD do it
4. If not detecting Connect HDD to IDE2 and try again. then also not working check the HDD is switching On to do this just touch the HDD case and see it has some movements inside when switching on the system.

Now also not able to means visit

You already scanned and defragmented it, but even though it showed up as hard disk not found ?

My guess would be the same as mentioned above that your drive is dead. Maybe it had some life when you did the scan and defrag.

If you put the disk in and then shut off the computer and restart it that should work just follow instructions, other wise go to start>programs>accessories>system tools>click recovery application and it should ask you to put the disk in @ that time. Good Luck!
