He offered his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush to take part in a live, uncensored television debate with him on world issues and resolving current tensions. “I invite Mr. Bush to a live debate about the ways out of world issues to prove that in the modern world no country can control other countries by using force, weapons, and veto powers,” he said. “We would voice our opinions and they would too and then the public would judge.”

Actually I wish Trudeau would come back from the grave - He would never have denied anyone a good debate and he would have had the smarts to defend himself - Put Regan Carter and a few others in thier place more than once.

Difference being Trudeau was a very smart guy

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

What might they debate? international warming? Ahmadinejad had his harangue on 60 minutes with Mike Wallace. enable him do Nightline if he needs. there's no objective to a debate with President Bush. A debate may well be held against 2 combatants who're working for the presidency yet Bush can't serve yet another term and Ahmadinejad can't serve interior the U. S. because of the fact he grew to become into born in a distant places u . s .. while it includes enrichment of uranium in Iran, there's no debate, the two. Iran has signed the nuclear nonproliferation treaty (NPT) and is violating it. What might properly be mentioned? ultimately, the actual skill in Iran is splendid chief Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei. Iran is a theocracy.

There is no way Bush would debate him. What most sheep in America don't realize is that the media in the U.S. is extremely controlled. To even allow American citizens to hear an alternate point of view or the real, unfiltered truth of worldwide occurances, could jeopardize the years of hard work and millions of dollars that have been spent on telling Americans what to think and how to think it. I live in this country (U.S.) but I wish that so many of us were not so ignorant of what is really going on in the world.

This is funny. As I recall, Saddam tried to debate Bush as well. He got denied, too. People are saying this is buying time to make nuclear weapons. The truth is that even if Iran acquired reactor usable uranium tomorrow, it would be bit before weapons grade stuff came around. Enriching uranium is a long process, and to go from civilian grade to military grade takes nearly five years. It'd be a circus, nothing would get done, but I'd love to see it. Bush won't, by calling Amenejad (sp) a terrorist, he'd be violating the "we don't negotiate w/ terrorists" clause engraved in his cowboy skull. I swear, I wonder what crazy bluffs have been called with that old one. Like 9/11.

Out of the question, why put a terrorist on a moral plane with the president and reveal that Iran even exists? He only asked for the debate knowing it couldn't be accepted. Has the Iranian leader EVER said anything constructive since he took over? You didn't know that Iran wants to be recognized as being important in the world?

Nothing the president of Iran does is reasonable.... unless you are a sympathizer of Muslim terrorists.

Have you ever watched the little punk avoid answering questions? He is as sickening as clinton and the Algore combined.

Iran's president has stated that he wants Israel destroyed and Jews DEAD. If you call that reasonable, you need to look the word up in the dictionary.

The Iranian president has the typical Islamo-fascist type warped thinking.

When pushed, he has no answers that make any sense what so ever..... AND,

He supports terrorism.
He supports terrorism.
He supports terrorism.

How many times do you need to hear that for it to register.

He funds Hezbollah and Hamas..... he arms the terrorists....

and he thinks he should be given a public forum.... NO WAY.

The public has already judged the Iranian.

Would you have debated with Hitler if you had been President in 1938? This is just an attempt to place himself on the same level as a world leader as the Us President. I understand that people hate president Bush so much that they would do or anything to make him look bad. This nut from Iran knows the same. you and every other person who supports this crazy idea from a crazy leader is just helping to move the Us one step closer to WWIII.

You know what, if he was at all shooting straight about anything he would participate and allow it to be aired publically. But I doubt he will. I don't know if Iraq is planning on making nuclear weapons or not, but if they are, hey guess what, the United States already has them and so do many other countries. Do I like this fact, no, I think all nukes should be abolished, from all countries, including our own, but realistically, that's not going to happen. Besides that, Bush said the same thing about Iraq, and we still haven't found any nuclear weapons there. If the UN's behind us invading Iran, then I say, hey go for it, but if not, then I say Bush needs to stop his ****.

Personally, I think that Bush should somehow get out of it.. Not that he is a chicken.. Not that many other things but the Iranian president, I am certain in my mind, is insane and I suspect that a debate would go awry with such a madman there.. I would somehow refuse

Finally a smart President, using words and knowledge besides bombs and fatality. Are you kidding?, Bush would never do it, he's a cowboy and wants more blood. Plus his brain is dumpy and he probably never took a debate class at Yale given his Daddy paid his way in.
