By gay, of course, I mean gay in the sense that we usually apply strictly to humans, with a specific sexual attraction to members of the opposite sex within their own species.

I mean sure, we all know dogs aren't too partiuclar and will bump uglies with the nearest convenient chair leg, but does it really make sense to talk about gay animals?

Ooops! Talk about your embarassing typos!

Obviously I meant that gay animals would exhibit an exclusive sexual preference for members of their *own* sex.

Ahem.

This is a good question. I don't think (in my opinion) that animals understand the concept of being bisexual or gay, because it is a human term. Animals just do what comes naturally, but they don't have the thinking capacity to know what it means. For example, if a dog was male, and humped other male dogs all the time, he woud still hump a female dog in heat if he ran across one. I think maybe it's a dominance thing when animals get frisky with the same sex. That's what I think.

There are some breeds of animals that are more sexually demanding than others. I had a bull that tried throwing a hump on my horses, and then settled for a tree stump. I had a Macaw that humped the bars on his cage. When it comes down to it, sexual gratification, and companionship are two separate feelings for animals. They may recieve both from the same animal/object, but they are unrelated feelings. Companionship in animals sees no sex or species. If a dog is lonely and neglected, and a cat comes along and plays nice, they are going to cuddle, play, and bond. Same goes for any species. If they are neglected, abbandoned, or outcasted from thier flock/pack/group, they are going to bond with what they can to survive.

I don't think animals are gay at all, it's just humans who can be gay. Sometimes people consider animals to have human-like behavior, but an animal's behavior is different from a human being's. But I'm not a scientist so I can't say for sure.

There's a show on logo this week about gay animals. There are a lot of them, the most popular swans at a zoo exhibit (either Wash. or london, or I forget exactly) were lesbian, there are gay birds, mammals etc. They raise young as pairs (though the right wing animals say they don't deserve to raise babys) mate for life etc.

I would just like to reply to Dragon's statement real quick-----Not if he tears YOU a new asshole FIRST!!! hahaha....omg...roflmao.....ok-yes animals can have "homosexual" tendencies so it is ridiculous to say that it is wrong for humans to be gay because that would mean that the "homophobes" would have to admit that "God" made a mistake......honestly...when are people going to think logically for once??? pfftt......
