Are hella headlights actually metal halide lamps,?

also wondering if, any headlights are high pressure sodium

Hella is just the name brand, they make several types of lights, some are bulbs, others are sealed, high pressure sodium are exterior bulbs used in lamp posts, and in warehouses they require a ballast to work. Metal halide lamps are a type of HID which also require a balast to operate. Unless you have an expensive car with HID the answer is no.

I believe they are Xenon arc.
