Advantage to whom?

It was a disadvantage to the Aztecs who had conquered their neighbors and demanded tributes of human sacrifice to the sun god every morning.

It was a disadvantage to the Iroquois League that had established a relatively peaceful nation by forcefully conquering all the tribal groups in the Northeast.

It was an advantage to Britain, Spain and France to have the natural resources harvested here.

It has become an advantage to global civilization since America is the greatest obstacle to global domination by crazed Islamists or murdering Leftists whose own brand of governance respects no concept of Human Rights.

It is an advantage to me, since I would rather live under no other system of government than the American one.

They brought education, medicine, and other advancements to areas that were primitive and stopped for a long time the kind of traibal wars that have been waging in the middle east since the Turks were defeated in WW1. Not that colonization is a good thing but at a certain point in world history it was the norm and a thing all countries tried.

Well, the US was created in that way, so i would have to say an advantage to the whole world.

The US gives more money and medical aid than any other country. Now that's a fact, not a boast.

But, the US also does a lot of shady crap.

Since the europeans were the educated ones on the planet in those days, I would say it was an advantage because they passed on some of that knowledge to the colony.
