Apples are the Rolls Royce's of computers. Pricey but made to work and not crap out on you. I would suggest DELL though. Cant beat the price. Basically you could by 2 laptops for 1 apple. They are good. I own one and gona order a new laptop soon.

Then you should probably ask yourself what you want for a laptop. Dell and Compaq are pretty good for schoolwork. But should u be looking for a higher end brand, can try Toshiba, Fujitsu or even IBM. They will cost much higher though.

I have a dell inspiron E1405 and it is amazing! It's my second one and they are great! picture is beautiful, light, good size, price is good too!
