Celebrities work a few months making a movie or a few days a week making an episode of a tv show and make $MILLIONS. Athletes, baseball players in particular, are away from their families about 9 months out of the year, play 6-7 days a week, week after week, sacrifice their bodies, play in the hot sun well over 100 degrees a lot...... but people complain that they are overpaid. What's your opinion?

Firefighters, police officers, teachers.... should make even half as much as athletes and actors.
Athletes definitely should make more money than actors. Wasn't Ray Ramono once called the Million Dollar Man because he was making a million dollars an episode? For what? Reading a script & talking. That's just ridiculous.
It's too bad there's not a way for fire, police, & teaching to be entertainment so they could pay those people a lot more.

They all are overpaid brats......especially now..
Athletes don't care about the game, all they care about is the cash and the endorsement cash. I really think that they need to reach an agreement and tell these players that if you don't play, you don't get paid. These people cry over a stubbed toe and claim they can't go out and play.
Celebrities just get overpaid ......period.

I think there is a lot of injustice in the fact that an athlete, for example, gets paid more than a teacher. - The typical teachers job is far more IMPORTANT, however.. .You should look at things from a "commissions" standpoint.

a typical teacher does not have 100,000 students (different students) once a week, who have to pay admission to see him/her)

a typical "game" can make several hundred thousand dollars in ticket sales, to millions. - Big games, such as the superbowl, are a BILLION DOLLAR business. Why shouldn't the athletes get a cut?

Without barry bonds, or whatever athlete you want to use as a reference, people (in that quantity) wouldn't be watching the game.

that's why minor leaguers get paid less, because they generate less revenue.

Ultimately, I think teachers are responsible for more revenue generation as whole, but one teacher isn't responsible for a 100million in sales, as a general rule

I think both are overpaid and I don't contribute to either. Americans are amazing. They can't take 15 minutes out of their day to go vote or watch the news, but they can spend hours making fantasy football teams or watching games. Wake up!

Athletes kick ***.. Celebrities are basically spoiled kids that have never grown up.. Like Charlie Sheen or Mariah Carey... Seriously Mariah, you're good looking but your not 20 so stop wearing slutty little dresses. Athletes actually worked their asses off to get where they are at.. Now celebrities basically are just born into stardom or get a lucky break.. I see girls and guys that are just as goodlooking as any celebrity in the business. You don't see people with the same talent as athletes though.. Athletes deserve the money

athletes deserve their high paid... because they're athletes as well as celebrities! they do 2 jobs in 1!

things change now.. some athletes are more popular then celebrities.. and when they get popular the deman is high.. and that goes as well on their 'salary' . just look at David Beckham ( soccer boy ). he gets i think nearly a million per week.

its because their popularity can attracts spectators. and spectators bring money to their employer! thats why the demand is high!

i think they deserve high paid.
(and not to forget, they sweat like pig doing ther job..hehe)
