If proved guilty life in prison without the possibility of parole. I am a victim of child molestation by a family member. I have paid the price from age 12 to 65 and he should have to. Regardless of the counseling sessions I still carry permanent scars. He went on with his life and before his death at 87 had the audacity to tell me he could not understand why I still resented him. Once a child molester always a child molester in my opinion. I have a degree in psychology and even with the knowledge I possess I can not totally erase the event from my mind.

I believe that a 30 year sentence, without bail until they serve at least 3/4 of the sentence (this is to make it easier to toss them back in if caught again while they await their next trial) sounds about right but only if the so-called child is indeed a child and not a girl that is only 4 or 3 or 2 or 1 year younger... an 18 year old with a 16 year old, or a 21 year old with a 17 year old...

Second offense should be life without parole in the general population... so big Bruno or huge Bubba can share him with some 6 o 8 other prurient sexual deviants!

I don't believe they should be mutilated but given a very fair trial because there HAVE been people who've been innocent and they've had to go through the embarassment and humiliation of proving their innocence... yes, some children and some parents lie, and some police officers do coach the kids on what to say and some unscrupulous people do tell kids what to do to get someone else in trouble. Yes, we all know that innocent people have indeed been accused of heinous crimes, too!

Depends on the situation. An adult molesting a 3 year old is vastly different from a 18 year old having sex with her 17 year old boyfriend, but in both situations the older person is considered a sex offender.

Meh. It figures *I* would have to be the one to be a buzzkill here, seeing as how I myself am a survivor of abuse and molestation (my own dad, twice, once at 4, again at 10, and that was just the molestation, the beatings went on for years).

I mean, on an emotional, intuitive level, hell yeah, I want to see them *die* on a crucifix myself. Upside down. But....

Note the word "minimum" in the question people. Note that in the United States we do have a provision in our Constitution that *outlaws* Cruel and Unusual Punishments. Meaning....?

If we throw that out to kill the child molesters....how far away are we really from just doing the Taliban thing and punishing shoplifters by *amputation*? Think, ok....I know it hurts, ok? But think folks....

Having said that. :) Now we get to the *fun* business of making these bastids *suffer*.

On a *first time* offense (because any fool can mess up once):

--Three years of Special Boot Camp wherein the point gets *beaten* into them *daily* with a Cane, Singapore style, that Children Are Off Limits.
--Followed by Seven years of Parole, meaning *twice a month* the person has to report themselves to a Parole Officer and *demonstrate* signs of Cleaning up their act, including things like holding down the job, staying away from kids, staying away from porn, etc....
--The first time offender goes on a nationwide registry of offenders for the duration of their sentence....and will only get removed *ten more years* after the end of their Parole, after a decade of *perfect* law-abiding behavior. As in *a traffic ticket* keeps them on the list.

Second and Subsequent Offenses:

--Electronic House Arrest. FOR LIFE. Meaning they are NOT allowed to leave their homes without an *armed* escort with them no more than ten feet away at ALL times. Their location is to be monitored 24/7/365 by Satellite.
--Permanent Surgical Sterilization and De-Gonadization. Meaning the sexual organs are *removed* AND an implant or drug-pump device is put in their bodies that negates any and ALL testosterone remaining in their bodies (that might come from the pituitary organ of their brains). The idea is to totally eriadicate any and *ALL* sexual desire from them, not just physical capacity but the *mental* state of arousal itself.
--BAR them permanently from ANY AND ALL gainful employment and *force* them to live hand to mouth, on an SSI stipend ($603 per month, last I checked). This will *just barely* cover living expenses and *nothing more*. Strip them of power of attorney over their own money gained this way, and *deny them any and all* non-necessary expenses required to continue living and pay debts.
--Bar them from being within a quarter mile of anyone's children, and from ever EVER talking about or doing anything *even remotely related* to children, and if the Bar gets broken, THEN THEY DIE.

Harsh enough? Yeah, it is a pisser that we have to pay so much to wait for them to die, but the alternative would likely not be Constitutional:

Just surgically blind, castrate, lobotomize them and *sever* their upper spinal cords (between the C2 and C3 vertebrae), leaving them medically vegetative for life. Yeah, they'd be much cheaper and easier to control, but you know....

Their genatailia should be chopped off and they should have to live in a community house for molesters so we can easily identify them.

Yeah, I like Bradley's answer about surgically putting them in a vegetative state. Fackin eh! Wouldn't mind payin such high taxes after that...especially if we were allowed to go poke them with cattle prods once in awhile just for shits and giggles.

Whatever the prison term, it should be served with the general prison population. There should be no special treatment for molesters.
