yes it is okay to me because my first piercing was done at home by my older sister. you don't have to start out with earrings period. you could start with straws.

The piercing guns at jewelry stores can cause a lot worse than infection.
There is a risk of cross contamination due to the fact that the gun can not be sterilized properly. Tiny bits of blood can splatter on the gun, and then it gets in contact with the next customer.
Wiping tools down with alcohol does not sterelize anything.

Home piercing is never recommended. Infection, cross contamination, incorrect jewelry size and wrong angles are just a few of the things that can go wrong.

Everybody thinks that you can sterilize things at home, but the truth is, you CAN'T.
Burning a pin with a flame actuially contaminates your tools more.
Anti-bacterial soap will not sterelize your tools either.
Boiling your tools will not do it, nor will antiseptic.

An autoclave is the best way to sterelize something and this is the way it is done in a piercing shop, hospital or dentist office.

As for jewlery, you need something that is starter sized and that will allow for proper swelling. This depends on the thickness of your earlobes.

it truly is much less approximately sterility and extra approximately your procedures. A hypodermic needle isn't the comparable length as a usual stud earring. You poked a hollow on your ear after which you tore the hollow even better with the jewellery. That subject is going to be finished of scar tissue. Polysporin isn't suitable for puncture wounds, it says so genuine on the kit. end utilising it. in case you opt to take suitable care of a sparkling piercing you will possibly desire to purchase some non-iodized sea salt. Dissolve a million/4 teaspoon sea salt in 8 oz..very heat water and carry a cotton ball soaked interior the answer to your ear for about ten minutes. try this a fwe circumstances an afternoon. do no longer positioned any ointments or peroxide or rubbing alcohol on it. in case you needed a sterile job that would heal properly you will possibly desire to have long previous to a specialist piercer at a tattoo and peircing save. Mall piercers are people who tell human beings to rotate their rings. All it does it drag airborne dirt and dirt, germs and crusted lymph into your piercing. it truly is no longer effective.

Hey why not, I pierced my lip at home with a safety pin. (no joke) but it turned out okay. They sell the pircing earrings at places like Claire's or Sally's Beauty Supply and the gun too. Just be sure to sterilize everything and you should be just fine. You should have someone do it for you at home, not yourself. And if you are at all squemish just do it at the store. No as a matter of fact just do it at the store no matter what. It's cheaper, cleaner, and the people doing it are more experienced. What do you need to have the gun for?

I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. I know someone who did it and his ear was swollen and badly infected for weeks afterwards.

As to the earrings, it's been a while but I recall they were called "sleepers". They're the small round wire ones that fit close to the earlobe.

I hope this helps.

You should totally get it done professionally if you want it done. It'll get even more infected if you do it yourself. AND..it'll hurt like a b*tch if you do it yourself. Atleast when you get it done they do it quickly. Do like a plain diamond stud. That's really all a guy can do and it still look good. Good luck, babe!

Less chance of infection when done professionally. You start out with studs.
