I've never watched a whole "reality show" and I never will. I agree with you that it's due to a lack of writing ability and ideas.

I'm sayin'! I was watching a rerun of The Cosby Show today, and it was unlike anything you would ever see today! There was actual ACTING! It was so refreshing to see, and I even thought the same thing you did about where have all the good writers gone.
As far as reality shows go, where's the reality? I mean, like people are gonna act real in front of a camera. No, reality is getting up in the morning, going to work, coming home, cooking dinner and sitting on the couch in front of that boring load of whatever!! Come Back Bill Cosby!!

I agree that it has gone too far. Someone comes up with a good idea then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and refuses to let go. I think there are too many and they have lost their novelty. Like Dancing with the Stars was good the first season, then it became a popularity contest. Now we have the celebrity singing and skating shows, as well as celebrity cooking. It's ridiculous. I agree that we need the good writers back and come creativity invested.

Yea, there is definitely an abundance or reality tv. But there is a demand for it, too. I watch Big Brother, but that's it. Networks are resorting to reality TV because not only is it cheaper, but it is more popular right now. But I have read articles that say that the trend is going downward....yay!

That's why I watch ANIME!!!!!!!!
Also, just about every "reality" show isn't real at all; it's probably all acted out and the outcome is decided from the beginning. All the good writers are writing books and magazines!!! I agree with your statement; good luck in finding a television show that's actually GOOD and ENJOYABLE...

I agree, but reality shows have always been with us to a degree. The Dating game, jeopardy, and to a degree they always will be. However you're totally right about the overload, though I do enjoy Rockstar:Supernova. We do need more writers and cool shows, I recomend watching "Supernatural" and "Veronica Mars" if you don't already. Both are excellent shows so far.

I was fed up with reality tv shows after the second survivor. The only one that I ever liked was The Swan. But yeah, put more good shows like Rescue Me, 24, and Grey's Anatomy on.

seems like our tastes have not improved since the middle ages...i think reality tv shows are no different then what people used to do to laugh in the medieval times....weird people in the middle of a square and everyones gathers to laugh at their disabilities or weaknesses....same with the reality tv...

Not yet! Celebrity Duets was pretty cool tonight. Gene Simmons Show is an absolute hoot! I can not believe how normal his kids are! As long as these kind of shows pull in ratings, they will be made.

Fed up? I never liked them to begin with. Try Lost for a mystery, or Rome if you like historical dramas. There aren't a lot of watchable things out there, but there are a few.
