no its not 1.
Square root of 5x is (5x)^(1/2).

So, the exponent is 1/2.

The square root of (5x).

Or (5x)^(1/2) It is raised to the one half power, so exponent is (1/2)

This question is meaningless. Sorry, no offense intended but the square root of 5x is something (we don't know what because we don't know what x is). Asking what the exponent of the unknown result is is like asking "what would you like me to multiply twenty by?". you can put whatever exponent you like with the result because you haven't told us what result you want.

If the result is to be 5x then the exponent is 2 because to get the beginning number from any square root is to square the square root (square root of 5X to the second power = 5x).
