The ports themselves can't be upgraded; you need to buy a new apparatus for new usb 2.0 ports. A PCI card with usb 2.0 ports is your best bet.

You can't, as far as I know. Keep this in mind- if you have USB ports in front and in back of your computer, use the ones in the back. They're usually much more powerful. Mines has a USB 1.0 in the front (of the tower), and in the back is a bunch of USB 2.0 ports. Try it out first!

You can buy a USB 2.0 card (usually PCI for desktops or PCMCIA card for laptops) and plug USB 2.0 devices into that.
