I see that you have some unresolved issues here. From my viewpoint I see things in a different light. I believe that marriage is a partnership between two people who are willing to do what ever it takes to make things work. There may be times when one person is out of work and needs to rely on the other to support the family. There may be times when both are working and need to help each other around the house. It doesn't matter in the long run because you are working toward the same goal - keeping the family safe and happy. There have been years on end that I have had to support the family due to illness and disability of my ex husband. That is what marriage is all about. You do what you can to keep going.

It's not monopolizing... The wife is duty bound, the husband works for the family while the wife handles all the monetary issues, expenses and the budget... If you communicate about your plans to your partner, and make an ultimate decision then you both wouldn't have a problem at all...
