Is there a way to check your internal modem, wireless card, or to see if there is spy ware slowing down my internet. Everything else with my computer works fine.

Go to a site like DSLReports to test the speed to your modem. If it comes out near 1.5Mbps (which is 187.5 KB/s), then you know the problem is not your modem.

Remember the speed is in "megabits" per second, not megabytes. You have to take the megabit figure and divide it by 8 to get the number of megabytes per second.

Remember this technology is based on the distance you are from the CO = central office. So let's say yo have a long RJ-11 phone cord from the wall jack to the modem you are extending the distance you are from the CO, which would cause you to have a slow transfer rate. Also make sure all phone outlet has a filter.

To see if spyware is slowing down your internet connection, press ctrl-alt-del to bring up the windows task manager. Click the networking tab. Watch the graph to see if the connection is being used when you aren't using it. If so, you may have a spyware problem.
