Is the Intel Dual-Core processors the same as the Core Duo processors? How fast are the Dual-Core processors? Do they allow you to run multiple applications?

Dual core is really fast. It can run 5x or more than a single processor. Not only you can run multiple applications, you can also save electricity bills due to its new technology.

Core Duo and Dual-Core are basically the same thing; "Duo" is just Intel's way of branding its Dual-Core processors. Dual core processors run much faster than single processors when multiple applications are running, and show a still appreciable improvement over single core processors when running single applications. Personally, though, I would recommend AMD Athalon 64 x2 processors over Intel's because they are cheaper for similar performance.

Not sure exactly what MP is talking about. No, the Pentium D CPUs had to run at a lower speed than the single-core Pentium 4 in order to lower the power draw and keep from overheating.

The new Core 2 Duos from Intel, however, are completely different from what we've seen. They pack more punch per MHz than any other CPU out there. Plus they run cooler and quieter.
