The deal with race is that when we see anyone, we automatically notice what features they have that make them different from everybody else. Everyone has some feature that makes them unique. It is natural for us to do so. But with race, we feel bad for realizing that they are different, because we have been taught about racial discremination being in our history, and in the history of other societies. We feel that we are still viewing them as different, and that we shouldnt. There are few real "racists" out there, but the media portrays people as if racism is still a major issue, and we believe them because we realize we view anyone of another race as different. True racism can only be found in trailer parks in Alabama, or at a KKK meeting. Dateline airs a story about 2 twins, whom nobody has ever heard of before, who were taught to dislike the black community, and to keep the white race living. They claim they are the epitome of what our society has turned into, and claim they are spreading hate to other people too. In reality, the only reason they were signed was because an african american was trying to show that racism is still alive, and that it was being spread. So really, race is really not that important, it is just made out to be.

Because America is a melting pot of many ethnic groups and we are all so busy trying to prove our superiority we fail to take the time to genuinely learn from, and get to know each other. Furthermore, this is not unique only to American society.

Because we are such a diverse society...there are instances in our history that can't seem to disappear. Alot of time I feel as if people are scared to step on others toes because of race yet there are others that want to stomp on them. We make it what we want...its important to those that are scared of what they don't understand and not so important for people that can accept and not care what you look like.

Some people think their race is superior to others. Fact of the matter is, there is no single race in america. As a matter of fact, you don't create a "race" in less than 200 years of being a country. Races evolve over time. When england dumped criminals and prostitutes in north america, they didn't create a race.

because other countries dont deal with other races as much. therefore they dont clash as much. in america, we must deal with every type of race, religion, etc...and,regardless of what others say, we ARE different. different from living conditions to habits to language to just about everything else.

It's not. It only is if you make it. In the South, it's different, but the rest of the country is pretty fine with everyone.

I don't get it either. I'm hanging out with a foreign exchange student from France and she is shocked by how much we separate ourselves. Seeing somebody else's perspective was eye opening.
