many reasons, the number one is money/greed (not the consumers fault) and ignorance/laziness (the lazy part is the consumers fault). You see some people would rather just go to micki D;'s or any of the other fast food joints and get a meal there, that is so much easier than buying fruits and veggies, washing , preparing, cooking, . The fact of the matter is none of the stuff you get out there ois good for you. A resaraunts job is to make money. How do they make money? getting the food as cheaply as possible but making it taste as good as possible. How do you make chicken taste scrumptious? You inject it with a syringe full of butter.......I think you get my drift.I could go on and on.

Because anything we want is readily available at any time of the day. We have supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants that are open 24-7. So instead of going to bed hungry like other people in the world, we go to the drive-thru at Wendys and fill up on junk food.

bcuz our government is not strict on our health and what we eat like other countries do. In Europe, u don't c fat people alot cuz the governments r strict about McDonalds and BK cuz they think it's not suitable 4 their people. also they don't allow people 2 drink soda, water, or alcohol while driving because they don't want any drunk drivers or wrecks 2 happen. i guess that's y they have less car accidents than we do.

One thing I noticed when I visited London this summer was...many people do not own vehicles and they walk or ride a bike everywhere. Americans are also very wasteful when it comes to energy and it seems that goes hand in hand with obesity because people power burns more calories! Just an observation.

I think it's because in America, there is an abundance of fast food places. While out shopping, commuting, errand running or just hanging out, you can pass soooooooooo many places to eat. With that said, it seems to be more of a DISCIPLINE problem. And, with the various CULTURAL food spots - my, my! You tend to wonder how can one resist? :-)

we eat larger portions, more fried foods, more junk food in general. also we exercise less... we have more cars than most other countries. and after we drive home from school or work we sit at home and watch tv, play video games, or surf the web, while other countries are all out playing soccer.

We are blessed to have plenty of food. The poorer the country, the skinnier the people.

Unfortunately, many Americans love to eat junkfood or fast food, hate vegetables and hate to exercise. Most of us would prefer to drive or ride everywhere than walk. Another sad reality is that the junk food is cheaper than the healthy food.
