The Merck manuals are a respectable medical source, and the link below contains an article from one of them that talks about injuries from lightening.

Resources: Lightning science and safety
During every minute of every day, roughly 1,800 thunderstorms are creating lightning somewhere on Earth. Though the chances of being struck by lightning are estimated at 1 in 700,000, these huge electrical sparks are one of the leading causes of weather-related deaths in the USA each year with an average of 73 people killed; about 300 people usually are injured by lightning.

Howdy there "Sparky" . I've never been struck by lightning but I can perhaps offer you a little insight that you could use in your quest. To understand , personally , what the feeling would be in that situation , try this. Purchase an energizer type 9 volt battery , stick it to your tongue and hold it there for eleven seconds. Remove the battery for two seconds and replace it on your tongue for an additional seven seconds. Remove for three seconds and then replace but only "tap....tap...tap" Did that give you a charge ? Now multiply that sensation by 400,000 times and you might come close. People that have been electrocuted suffer immense pain and their flesh is often burned. Other nasty occurrences are that eye balls ...explode , hair singes , the inability to control bodily functions such as urination and defecation and the marrow in the bones is vaporized. This leaves hollow bones . These things , however , is from normal electricity and God uses higher wattage in his bolts so I don't think you should hope for that kind of surprise.

My Ex-husband was struck by lightning in the back of his head. He went flying across the parking lot and passed out for like 30 minutes. When he went to the doctors and told them what happened he was told that he was lucky that he was still alive. BTW he was drenched and it still went into the back of his head and out his right hand. He now has a pure white patch in his black hair where he got struck.

In 1984 I was struck by a massive bolt of lightning while hiking with my boyfriend in the Rocky Mountains. I was unconscious for days. My body was paralyzed for almost three months. When I regained the ability to speak, I needed speech therapy. The doctors said my neurons were totally rearranged. Now, years later, I feel fine except for one thing. I am able to levitate. I can lift myself off the ground and with more practice, some day I believe I may be able to fly short distances. We will see, but thank you for asking.

When you are struck by a lightning, it is better that ur body is wet because it will not go inside your body but it goes on the surface of your wet body. When your body is dry, there's a possibility that the molecules in your body will find its way out. When we say out, means that it will create holes in your body. Because of the electric shock your body experience.
