when people say we need you to help donate to lost and sick/ homeless pets, when there are millions of people living without the basic things in life? Wouldn't you rather help out a dying person than just some animal?

Right on! If a person is to truly look at charities they will discover that possibly 15% of every dollar actually goes to where it was intended. The rest goes to pay for salaries of administrators and amenities that defeat the whole purpose of us making donations. I for one, if a homeless person comes up to me and says I havent eaten in 2 days and I offer to buy them a combo meal at a fast food joint and they accept, I know that my money was well spent. Some of the biggest legal scams going are the charitable orginizations.

No, it doesn't piss me off - I am an animal lover, and they can't help themselves and I'm glad there are people out there doing something.

People should help other people, especially those who can't help themselves, that's what compassion is all about; and I think our Government should be doing a lot more - they have the means, the money, the power - if only they could get their priorities straight. We shouldn't have the level of poverty that we do in this country, we shouldn't have poverty at all! Look at all the working poor - those with families, some with two jobs, struggling to survive, trying to make ends meet, but still having to go to a food bank, or soup kitchen, because there's not much left over for groceries after paying the rent & other living expenses. What's wrong with that picture and does it really make sense to you? It's become a very expensive world to live in these days. The government CAN do something about it, if only they would. That's what pisses me off.

It pisses me off to the extreme.

Animals, granted, have their own need. But this world is so upside down that people actually celebrate a a dog's birthday and grant them huge money heritages, when maybe around the corner are people starving to death, or homeless PEOPLE.

Above all, pets and properties included, are HUMAN NEEDS. EVERYTHING ELSE IS SECONDARY!!!! I mean, I would risk my life by trying to save a drowning PERSON. NEVER for a drowning dog. MY life is much more valuable than that of an animal. If it involves no human life loss risk, then OK, go for it. Good for little puppy.

Damn this subject REALLY pisses me off.

Nope, doesn't piss me off. I would give to helpless, grateful animals who in return give you unconditional love before I give to some organization for "helping" this or that disaster fund for people. Who knows who is sticking their arm out for free handouts. You can give a pet in a shelter a toy and they will be grateful forever. You give a homeless person a dollar and....

Its not just "some animal." The reason why animals need help is because people put them in that situation. Animals need help as much as humans.

I totally agree with you... there are people spending hours of their lives trying to save pets who are sick, or broken, when they are killing the healthy ones, they need to wake up

able-bodied people are supposed to help themselves... not sit around waiting for handouts.

we're the "superior" race and are responsible for the animals and those who cannot help themselves.
