multiply the left side numerator and denominator by 2/2, giving you 4x / (4x + 10). add the 5/(4x+10) to both sides of the equation, giving you (4x+5)/(4x+10) = 2/3
Now multiply the left side of the equation by 3, and the right side of the equation by 4x+10, giving you 12x + 15 = 8x + 20
Further simplify by subtracting 8x from each side and 15 from each side, giving you 4x = 5. therefore x = 5/4.
Check the work by plugging in x = 5/4 in the original equation and you get 1/3 = 1/3

i have self assurance that Como is actual about the brackets, yet as written the answer is 2x/2x + 5 = 2/3 - 5/4x + 10 a million + 5 - 2/3 - 10 = -5/4x - 2/3 - 4 = -5/4x 5/4x = 4 + 2/3 5/4x = 12/3 + 2/3 5/4x = 14/3 4x/5 = 3/14 4x = (5*3)/14 4x = 15/14 x = 15/fifty six

first, get every variable on one side: 2x/(2x + 5) + 5/(4x + 10) = 2/3
do least common denominator stuff and multiply both sides -
2x(4x+10) + 5(2x+5)=2( (2x+5)(4x + 10) ) / 3
multiply the 3 through -
6x(4x + 10) + 15(2x + 5) = 2( (2x + 5)(4x + 10) )
simplify it all -
24xx + 60x + 30x + 75 = 2( 8x*x + 20x +20x + 50)
24xx + 90x +75 = 16xx + 80x + 100
get the variables on one side again -
8xx + 10x = 25
And that is the limit of my memory of college algebra.... :(
but that 1.25 is the right answer above. Don't know how you get to the final step though.
on further review, the guy below me did it a much easier way. Do it that way.

get a common denominator. Then you can work on one level without fractions.
