DON'T KILL IT! Mice don't see well and they tend to run along the walls. Open up all your basement doors, or set up friendly traps that will only trap it in a cage, so you can let it out outside. Next time keep your doors closed and check your luggage when you go camping.

Get or borrow a cat, turn it loose in the basement. Set a mouse trap with peanut butter and chocolate syrup. Also, there are all sorts of mouse bait available at most stores.

Borrow a cat. How big was the mouse? Look around for mouse droppings or any clues about how it got it. It is probably coming in through a small hole or crack.

Is the mouse dead or live? They are hard to catch, but you could turn a mop buckey upside on it to catch it live, Then slide cardboard under to take it outside and release it not too close to where it came in. If it's dead, pick it up with an inside out milk bag, and bag it up for trash day.

Grind up 2 "No-Doze" into a fine powder and mix it with the white filling from an Oreo cookie. Roll it into a ball and leave it where mouse will come across it. If you have other pets that might eat it, get a mouse trap instead. One ball should last few several mice...the caffeine in the "No-Doze" kills them.

Buy a mouse trap, put peanut butter on it and set it and forget it.. that is until you hear a loud snap sound, then take your little bundle out to the trash... oh yeah and to help with clean up...put the trap down on some news paper and you can wrap it up like a gift for the trash man.

Get a few pet pythons and turn them loose in the basement.
Otherwise, get some mouse traps or call a pest control company.

poisons are a way to harm children so be careful with them, use a live mouse trap and simply throw it away or get a cat and you can try moth balls i hear they work (but the smell at first is powerful)

buy a mousetrap...and smear some peanut butter on it......put it in the basement overnight.....then....SNAP !!!!!
good-bye mister mousie...

in the morning.....toss it in the trash.

find out how and where they are getting into the basement...if it's a hole....put some steel wool in it.....now that the weather is getting colder, they will be looking for places to ride out the winter months.....once established, they can overrun your house...they have lots of babies, very often...and the babies have babies....and more babies....and more babies.....

get rid of it now, before you have a big problem...
