The hospital I work at requires 6 months in one position before you can transfer to another department. If you are looking to pick up hours on top of those you work in your current job, that usually isn't a problem. Call the human resources department (the people that interviewed you)

Yes, priority for job postings is usually given to internal employees. Those with more seniority that apply for the same positions usually get preference though.

Why not? It's called a transfer! It's fairly common. However, you usually ask to be transfered or ask to be considered rather than "applying" the traditional way.

Absolutely! It shows you are interested in different types of work on the hospital. There is nothing wrong with exploring your options. My personal opinion, it shows ambition! Good Luck!

You can; but you have to follow protocol by giving your supervisor the respect of letting him/her know that you are interested in an open position in the hospital.
Yah know, "don't burn your bridges".....The hiring manager in the other dept will ask he/she about your work etc.

in America, you can.
Change departments, and you had better been good to your previous boss or he will slander your work ethic.
