We weren't caught off guard! We watched that storm for over a week. We knew where it was headed and how strong it would be. New Orleans tested that same scenario the year before, so they knew what was going to happen, yet they did nothing. The government did not blow up any Levey's. The money for the Levey's was blown on a new casino. You were witness to what a corrupt local government can do that has control over a heavily social program supported group of people. Failure every time!

It was the governor who would not allow the military to mobilize, and help us after the storm. The U.S. military is prevented by the constitution from acting within the U.S. without permission from the governor. Blanco waited three days before signing that order. Bush had it on her desk the first day.
The levees were not blown up. That is a conspiracy theory started after people in the ninth ward heard what they thought were explosions, it was a large barge banging against the concrete flood walls. The barge ended up on national news in the middle of the road.

No one blew up the levee's.
If you mean local government falling down on the job, You are right. They knew the storm was coming a week ahead of time! Did they evacuate the people when they should have? NO!
Local government and Fima fell flat on their faces! Bush could do nothing till asked. Those poor people had to suffer for 3 days before Federal government was called in.

I agree with you. When someone says the government blew up the levees I assume I am dealing with a psychotic since there is no reason to kill people.

Caught off guard, plain and simple. Why blame the government for something that no one can possibly control, let alone predict accurately?
