In Toronto, it's $2.75 cash fare and $2.10 if you buy a bus ticket in advance. Monthly passes for unlimited rides are $99.75 (About the same cost of a basic bicycle!).

I just want to get an idea of how these public transit prices compare to other cities.

Thanks for your answers.

WOW thats crazy - I thought that $2.00 a fare here in New Brunswick was bad. We can buy punch passes that cost $18 for a 10 ride, and $34.50 for a 20 ride. A monthly pass is $56. I take the bus everywhere and I find the cost crazy. Should save the money I spend on public transportation and buy a car.

yeah, but you have really great bus service! It costs $2.25 here in Calgary, and many buses only run every half hour to 45 minutes. it actually takes me less time to walk to where I used to work than to take the bus, and its more than 3 kilometres
oops. $69 for a monthly pass $19.75 for a for a book of 10 tickets.

It's free for me because of a deal my university made with the bus company. But if I wasn't a student, it would be US$1. Small college town = cheap transport.

Washington DC area - $1.25 regular fare, $3.00 for an express bus. If you transfer from the subway, it costs $.35 for regular, not sure of fee for express transfer.
