Answer it smartly. I do have certain weakness but I am in fact improving on this matter. I like to answer that my major weakness is ignorance and the interviewer will be suprised and ask you why? Ok, then I will explain that cause I am pretty new and eager to learn from every aspect while denying the fact that I have not enough expereience in this field.

It does work if you change industy or doing something different or taking a new responsibilities. Ignorance as I am, but I will succeed cause learning is a curve which cannot be doubt and if there is no chance at all, how can we build up a new young society of people.

You say this....
I really hate when I get into the flow of work or a project and I am stopped by someone wanting something small. I will stop and help them and put my work secondary.
This has always gotten me the job. You don't have to do anything but listen after you reply back with this. Don't be nervous. If they called you in for a interview. They already have your paywork ready. They just want to see you dress professional and speak professional. It is your job the be the best professional person to that goes in for the interview. Don't dress like everybody else. Wear a suit and you won't have to say much. Male or female, wear a nice suit. I don't care if it is Mc Donalds. They will never forget you are the only one that wore a nice suit. When opportunities arise....you will be the first in line. You will be bragging about getting promoted in three months. Good Luck. You won't need it if you wear the freaking suit. Don't fight it.

It's a BS question, so tell him you have a sweet tooth and tell him about your favorite candy. It will break the silence and hopefully lead to better questions.

If he persists, you can tell him you keep your weaknesses out of the workplace. Everybody has weaknesses, and the key is to keep them home and come to work ready, willing and able to make a difference each day.

The problem with the "I'm a perfectionist / workaholic / hard worker" line is that you're telling him you're a pressure-cooker; in a real office environment, you would be constantly frustrated. Also, employers have heard this "weakness which is not really a weakness" line over and over again. It's tiresome. Be yourself! If you have no weaknesses that affect the workplace, great! But be prepared to prove it.

Nobody is perfect - and everyone knows that. This question is asked as much to read you as for what you say.

The perfectionist answer - doesn't work so good anymore. As you can tell from the responses - it's one that everyone has clung to. It tells the interviewers you've prepared for the interview - but you're not willing to be honest about it.

Think of some other minimally negative thing to use - or something you've already improved upon. My problem used to be organization - but working with 500 students - I had to get organized real fast - and it's something that stuck.

I love that question and of course I don't know you to know how YOU could respond. Like you said, you want to present something that you can turn around to a positive ... or maybe that's not relevant to the job. My answer to that on my job interview (phone work) was "I would say that my biggest weakness is in public speaking; however, I have been working on it through an organization called Toastmasters, which works on public speaking skills."

It is a trick question. The worst thing to say is that you have no weaknesses. It tells them that you are a person who thinks you have no flaws and therefore cannot ever work in their flawed and ever changing company.

The proper answer to that question and the one they are looking for is to mention a flaw you once had and how you worked to correct it.

Example: My greatest weakness was that I was a perfectionist. However, through persistance and time I have discovered that by not over detailing a situation, that I have become more efficient and effective in my work enviornment.

This lets them see that you can recognize problems and work to correct them.

Always make it some sort of positive. Ex/ "sometimes I feel I am too much of a perfectionist" or "I sometimes loose myself in my work, and sometimes I think my personal time is suffering" or "I have been told I can be an over-achiever" things like that work well, never say things that can hurt you like "I have a weakness for beer" or "I am not always on time" or "I loose my focus easily" Good luck!!

They are looking for self awareness and honesty. We are all imperfect - they want you to let them know your major fault so that they can assess whether it will truly impact your ability to complete the job or not. For example - mine is that I am late to everything (only about 5 minutes). Typically that is not considered a major problem (but I don't apply to airline pilot positions)
