Cinco de Mayo and Tex Mex foods aren't purely Mexican, they've become Americanized. Other examples include a lot of the cities and people in Texas. We are truly American, but we and our hispanics hold more in common with Mexico than a lot of other states.

How what we think of as Chinese food, here in the US, is just Americanized semi-Chinese food.
Our global teacher always used Chinese Food as an example. Always.
