Yes, depending on the type of centipede, they can be dangerous. Though most centipedes are just house centipedes ( Scutigera coleoptrata ) ,brown centipedes ( Lithobius forficatus ) ..etc which are not venomous. Although a bite to an adult human is usually very painful and may cause severe swelling, chills, fever, and weakness, it is unlikely to be fatal. Bites can be dangerous to small children and those with allergies to bee stings. The bite of larger centipedes can induce anaphylactic shock in such people.

RE:
Are centipedes poisonous?
We have centipedes/millipedes.. whatever they are, they gross me out and I hate them. Anyway, they like to creep around my bathroom and run at me at random. Do they bite? Are they poisonous? What is the best way to keep them away?

Centipedes are venomous. My brother was camping in Hawaii and he thinks the Centipede didn't like his bug spray and it stung him. He chased it with a steel helmet and banged it on the ground but it kept running. It was very large and had a very painful sting. He finally hit it when it was on a rock and killed it. He broke out in an awful sore and he still gets impetigo apparently as a result of that centipede. It was a monster centipede though.

Most centipedes are venemous to a certain extent, but generally the venom is only dangerous to the small insects that they eat.
Depending on the part of the world you live in you can find some centipede species that have venom that can affect people, ranging from a bee sting type reaction to a lot worse. Some people have also had allergic reactions to centipede bites (just like some people have allergic reactions to bee stings)
Check out the wikipedia entry below. At the bottom of the entry is a list of some of the more commonly found species of centipede.
But assuming you live in the US or perhaps the UK then the worst a centipede bite is likely to feel like is a bee sting.
I always figure the best philosophy is you leave them alone and they'll leave you alone, although a glass and a peice of card hard always worked well for me, then I just put the centipede or whatever outside in the garden somewhere.

well centipedes can be very poisonous depending on the breed. but to keep them away go get a yearly bug barrier that is safe to use indoors. then caulk up any holes they may be crawling in and then spray the inside and on the outside of any openings like a window. it may say 8 or so months on the bottle but in a bathroom i would reapply evey month depending on how much condensation you get in the room.

No centipedes are not poisonous, but venomous. Venomous means that an animal has the capability of injecting toxin into a wound, by a way of fangs, stinger,or spine. The centipede injects venom with their fangs. Some of the larger centipedes can give a serious bite, but rarely fatal. Smaller ones such as the house and garden centipedes are not dangerous to humans. Their bites are no more serious than bee stings. They are predators and are beneficial by preying on other harmful insects such silverfish, cockroaches, etc.
Millipedes are harmless to humans for they have no venom glands. Though many due emit some poisonous excretion to deter predators. It is harmless to humans, but it is wise to wash your hands after you handle a millipede. That might cause irritation if they come in contact with your eyes.
