I have a 3.7 V lithium ion battery in my cell phone. After about 6 months, its charge lasts less than 12 hours. Is this common? And can iIget a new battery free under warranty or is it too late?

It is a little soon, but every one of my batteries did that after so long. The battery life goes down even after a charge and not as much talking. Eventually if you let it go, you will get it all charged, take one phone call, talk for 10 minutes and it will need charging again. I would just start looking for a new battery (put the stats on Ebay search and find one there). You can get brand new batteries there for not as much as the phone stores are. Also, make sure it is a credible seller and it says "New". Good luck

it doesn't sounds normal, battery will drain faster if
1) talk time increase
2) lcd is on
3) bluetooth
4) loud sound
5) play music or game.
how long does it last before?

battery is consider consumable part which means not replacable, or even it will, it will be 30 days or 90 days. look up manual.

call up service and make good excuse. it is worth to give a shot to the phone manufacture or provider

Well accessories usualy have a 90 day warranty so you are beat there. If you live in the states then you can buy one for 20-35 dollars but call your provider and see what they can do for you. It depends on how much you use your phone but it shouldn't lose the stregnth so early in its life.
