I actually take a sociology class...
sociology is the basically the study of social interactions between people.
It helps you to understand and appreciate the rich diversity that is possible in social life because it exposes you to cross-cultural and historical sources.
It also deals with social problems like drug, prejudice, divorce, and all that jazz.

Sociology blessed me with a very easy college academic life, and given me a bachelor's degree. I am now doing grad work for MBA and it feels good to know that the guy next to me had to work his *** off twice as much in Economics just to be in the same class, while I was having daily class discussions on women's enjoyment of pornography in society.

i'll answer in my own words.
it's considered a soft science supposed to address some issues shared with anthropology and psychology, from the "cultural" point of view.
it can help you to open-up your mind, leading you to see the big world far away from your navel.
it can help, for instance, to realize that "society" is not a "thing".
