I can't believe that people are so damn arrogant as to say "so what, we're tired of hearing about it". It doesn't matter if the gov. local or fed. didn't do a good job, the fact is that if you were to lose your house or worse a family member, you'd care. how would you feel if we said "so what", **** happens? I've been to New Orleans since Katrina so i have an advantage over you "lucky" people.

I personally don't think we should call it an anniversary, I think anniversaries are something we celebrate, and Katrina is certainly not something to celebrate.

I also think that while New Orleans has gotten way to much attention for issues that they (the government of Louisiana and New Orleans) should have tended to themselves.

It is a tragedy, the things that went on there, but there were many other places that were devestated as much or more so than New Orleans.....But no one other than the people who live around those places really know about that. Most people outside the coastal area assume that New Orleans was the only place hit by Katrina.........

I think Americans need to get over it. Natural disasters occur all over the world. In Iran there are earthquakes every once in awhile and 50,000 people die. I don't even need to mention the Tsunami. Africans are dieing by the millions because of starvation and disease. The entire planet is suffering and America has been insulated from these tragedies for a number of years. The Katrina thing is serious but the death toll did not even equal that of the Sep 11th attacks. Move on.

Like a previous poster mentioned, I'm not from there so it doesn't affect me personally like it does folks who were in that area. But I agree the media is making a bigger deal about it than necessary, but tragedy is what they (and society) thrive on.

Do we have "anniversaries" of other past hurricanes and natural disasters, alot of which were equal to or even more destructive than Katrina? No we don't. So I'm really curious as to why no one is willing to move on when no one spends their time focusing on other past disasters. Even the tsunami didn't have this much coverage and that was literally bigger than Katrina on a number of levels.

It is also the anniversary of my move to Missouri. We drove through the rains of Katrina in Ohio, which really reminds me how strong it must have been on the Gulf Coast.

I hope we all remember that those who live there are still not back to normal life. Let's all pray for them, and provide any practical help we can.

I think we're blowing it WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY out of proportion. It WAS tragic, I'm not here to refute that, but we're choosing to hang on to it just because we enjoying watching President Bush's incompetence by not sending help as quickly as someone else would. (Isn't it supposed to be a duty of the state, not the federal government anyway? I dunno...)

Natural disasters happen, there's no way around it. But why do we want to remember Katrina? Why should we have a memorial service for every earthquake that shakes its way through California?

Well, I guess it was bound to come around. I wish the recovery and rebuilding was further along. Thank Mr. Bush for another fine job screwed up....but he did catch some nice fish on the day New Orleans went down.

I think that they need to do stuff for themselves and stop complaining about how no one is helping them. They just proved how stupid they are by re-electing that racist mayor. So New Orleans can have their "Chocolate City", shooting at soldiers and rescue workers, non working asses and kiss my ***!!! It is amazing to me how everyone just forgets the long *** warning they got to get out and did not heed. How when it did hit they looted and shot at rescue workers. I was in Baghdad and knew it was gonna be bad 2 weeks prior yet they say they did not have enough warning. I say let ******* New Orleans sink into the ocean. Good riddance.

I lived in New York City and in Laguna Niguel all of my life so I don't really feel the same you feel when we talk about Katrina.
I believe that it's not something to be holding an anniversary for (at least what I think anniversaries are)

I am disgusted by it and have NO sympathy. I was there. I knew a WEEK AND A HALF ahead of time that it was 90% going to hit that area. Anyone who didn't leave was just STUPID. You could leave for FREE the entire week before it hit. There were all kinds of busses and caravans that would take you FREE OF CHARGE. I just have no sympathy for stupid people.
