,you have not researched this at all
.when fish are hungry they hang around other fishes back parts to eat any thing they may pump into the water
how do you know they don't also drink the pee
get a magnifying glass and observe the gold fish peeing .
when they do check if another one doesn't start drinking
or maybe you are right ,and then they will shut their mouths quickly
of course

Well, how would you spank a goldfish without giving it brain damage? It depends how much pressure you are using... you know, the peeing goldfish might keep on doing it if you "spank" it too softly.
