i saw a great article in Mother Jones on this question. The University women wear their robes open with their jeans showing, their scarves loose with their hair showing. The people there are educated and progressive and were tricked by their revolution. can't blame 'em for throwing off the tyrant Shah who we helped install when we overthrew their president in 1953, but talk about out of the frying pan, into the fire....
and i sure do miss those iranian pistachios.

i've been wondering this for a while. thank you for asking, i've added this question to my watch list.
i think, do they possibly had the time and the place for "thinking" about what is going on?
are you able to "think about" when you're IN the situation?
i really don't know.

Most don't have a clue what's going on. There's no freedom of the press there. And most are brainwashed......
