In the article, Gianluigi Buffon talks about the Italians wanting to prove that they weren't just lucky in the qualifying match against the French.
That is a motivating force for Italy just as getting some revenge for the World Cup will be for the French team. Italy are without players from the World Cup and the French are without Zinedine Zidane who has been their best player over the past ten years.
Any team, no matter how talented, needs a slice of luck to go with them and Italy had it in 2006. Italy was also good enough to take advantage of it. They didn't have much luck in 1994. Luck tends to even out over time.

He's talking about proving they weren't lucky, all you guys say is that they were (among other things).
It was a good article, I had no idea they only have 14 out of 24 guys from the winning squad.
France might actually have a chance to win!!!

all the french people on yahoo answers, all they do is ask and ask and ask questions about Italy and italian players. Geez like really are you guys that obsessed with them. Do you envy them so much that everything you talk about is them? get over it already it's been 2 fricken months. and people why do you pay attention to these questions, geez just ignore them. All it does is make them go on and on about how bad Italy is but inside you french are just desperately devastated and what to trash talk any little piece of information you can get. JUST SHUT UP AND GET A LIFE!

This match on the 6th of September is going to be a crucial game, both team want to win desperatly.
France wants to win to prove that Italy only won by luck.
Italy wants to win to prove that they did not win because of luck.
I am worried for France, we dont have Zidane...And it was all because of him that we reached the final...I seriously dont want us to lose, I want us to win...I hope we will...
