It's called an urn, unless Hindus have a more specific term for it. It's not only Hindus who keep an urn of ashes. My son's grandmother was certainly not Hindu, but she died and her body was cremated just this month, and her ashes sit in his birthmother's living room, in a very pretty little vase-like urn. It's also not just for humans. My sister sprinkled her dog's ashes near the area where she was originally rescued as an abused pup, and my cat is in a cherry wood box on top of our piano.
