The very basic princaple as to why our country worked in the 1st place, I belive is because of one basic principle, In God we trust. It just seems to me that the more we allow God to be removed from our nation the more our nation deteriorates. One nation under God indivisable for liberty and justice for all. It seems to me that our nation is divided and I belive that a nation divided against itself cannot stand. Just a note I consider myself politically as a liberal, not a conservative.

You don't sound like a liberal. What you said, though, is SO TRUE. But you will get brutally attacked for thinking along those lines. Just a warning.

Its nice to know that there are still people out there who are stuck on themselves and feel that their belief system applies to everybody and thus, if everyone believed like YOU do, then the country would be a sugar plum utopia.

What good is diversity or freedom of thought, when your version of salvation is the ultimate solution?!?!

As for the principle this country was founded on, keep in mind that "In God We Trust" was not our national motto until the anti-communist paranoia of the 1950's. Our nation is founded more on the principle of liberty and the pursuit of happiness... both of which is hard to mesh together religion.

Why is this country falling apart, as you think it is? The answer is simple. Look in the mirror... or look around your congregation at all the others who would love to shove YOUR ideas down everyone elses throats.

Yes, I'm tired of all these 'high minded' civilizations trying to separate the church and state. Things were much more fun in the good old days before secularism, what with all the Holy Wars, Inquisitions, witch burnings and such. Governments just don't seem as violent and fanatical when religion isn't in the mix. Heck, I don't even have the Taliban in power anymore! At least they were wise enough to recognize the true power of total convergence between religion and government. Bring religion back to the state, Americans, and I will reward you. Do this one simple task for me, and you will have everything that your hearts desire!

Fortunately- we don't need to be the first country to test this theory. There are a number of other countries that are trying it out right now. So- do a bit of research into which countries are ruled by Theocracies, and then let me know if you want to be more like them.

I'm all for religious freedom. But as soon as you impose your religion on someone else- it becomes oppression. Bringing more religion into government is certainly not a workable solution for our country.

It's not god that I'm afraid of, it's men who use God's name as the source of their power.

Nonsense! in the beginning, that the U. S. "grew to become into in accordance with christianity" can basically be typical because of the fact the rantings of somebody who has actual no understanding of U.S. heritage or an outright liar. so a procedures as your correlating the decline of society with the presence (or lack thereof) of christianity, it truly is a controversy that has been made because of the fact the beginning up of the cult. in certainty that the decline of yank society might properly be quickly tied to the upward thrust of backwoods theology preached to drooling idiots by using toothless, barefoot graduates of the Abner Yokum college of Jesusism and Stump Pullin'. because of the fact the "religious genuine" (a real oxymoron) has gained effect interior the government and pushed their apocolyptic fantasies, we've entered right into a conflict of journey it is tearing the rustic aside. As christians have better their presence interior the media, we've seen the upward thrust of objectionalble audio, video and print textile. As "christians" (people who certainly believe a e book that asserts the sunlight rotates around the Earth) infect our academic and medical communities with their mythology, we are straight away growing to be to be the guffawing inventory of a international it truly is leaving us interior the airborne dirt and dirt in the two factors. Has nothing to do with it. "God" on coinage and in the pledge is defined by the Supreme Court as a "civic god", which means that it represents more the gray eminence of the U.S. rather than the Christian God. The majority of the Founding Fathers were not Christians, anyway, they were Deists. Returning to or going away from God has nothing to do with what is going on in the U.S. right now. It's a power grab by Right Wing extremists, and they're using your religion because it's convenient. You are less likely to question their actions if they invoke the name of God. So you are letting them get away with literal murder because you believe that they have God on their side. Why aren't you bewaring of false prophets like it says in the Bible? Hmm?

I certainly agree with you for the most part . I do believe the founding fathers used the words of the Bible as a guide for our country but not in a strict biblical sense .. They did not want religion to become a main political force in this nation or they would not have added a separation of church and state in their papers . People forget that the first settlers came to America to get away from religious oppression in Europe . They were looking for freedom of church and state .

No. The reason that our country is falling apart is the one half is trying to force their religious beliefs one everyone else.

It's not the removal of God that causes the problems. It's the attempt by certain groups to force their religion upon those who choose a different path.

That's in direct opposition to the values this country was founded on.

{EDIT}

And we have one for the record books. Skerry agreeing with a liberal.

I beg to disagree. My nation is one of the the only two christian nations in Asia and we had been praying for the last 500 years. Yet, it is one of the most divided and one of the poorest in the region.

No, it's not a lack of God that is killing the country. It is the lack of liberty and justice for all. The current administration is incompetent and corrupt beyond belief.
