An easy way to do these is to make a sentence, then substitute the words:
"to recompense, I need money."
The only one that fits is c "to avenge someone, I need vengance"
C

Here is a cheating tip for analogies: Use one word to define the other. Then take the answer choices and plug them into the exact same definition. See which one fits.
RECOMPENSE is getting back MONEY.
a. SPEND is to getting back SAVE. --- doesn't make sense
b. CONTEST is getting back WIN -- doesn't make sense
c. AVENGE is getting back VENGEANCE -- not exactly
d. GOODS is getting back BARTER -- doesn't make sense
None of them is actually a very good answer, but C is the only one that's close. To AVENGE is to get VENGEANCE. To RECOMPENSE is to give MONEY.
Boy, that's a badly written analogy! But I would have to go with C.

As written none of them appear very good. Recompense is a verb (to repay) and money is a noun. The closest in my view is d. but the words are reversed barter is the verb meaning an exchange and goods is the noun.

think about it this way:
to recompense means to give back money
So... what other pair fits?
hint: it can't be answer D. because the first word in the pair cannot be a noun
