I remember back in the day (I'm 28) the arcade was the place to be on a Saturday night or after school. It was where you hung with your friends and hung around the newest game waiting for your turn to play (with your quarter on the bar on the bottom of the monitor).

I miss arcades, and the one arcade I used to frequent finally closed it's doors. Does anybody else miss the good ol' arcade?

being a fellow detroiter (35) i remember playing at all kinds of places,, bowling alleys, game arcades (roscoes in westland) was one of the best in the early 80S ,,, even Chuck E Cheeses was cool,, but now they all suck ,, have a few games but now its all playtoys for the kids and you dont get anywhere near the tokens you got back then,, the small " in the strip" arcades were the best,, ill have to agree sit down pac man , asteroids or galaga were my favorites,, my favorite stand up was PHOENIX,, i was able to get it on a plug and play that also has Space Invaders,,, i have all the Classic Arcade game packs for SONY PLAYSTATION (original) so my coin bearing self will always have something at my fingertips,, but its just not like the rush you get when playing the big machines. there is a good business in the detroit area who sell all kinds of game and pinball machines , i think its called BIG TOYS ,, i see an add every once and a while on our cable , but i cant remember if thats right,,,, the 80s ruled and those games will always be legends !!!!

Theres an arcade about 15 minutes from my home. I am part of an orginization at my college thats a lambda lambda lambda frat mainly(revenge of the nerds). And they took an old arcade frame, pretty much gutted it and installed a way modded xbox with emulators and have several thousand games on it, all played arcade style or with controllers for newer console games. It also controlls a stereo system around the house among many other things im not sure of.

I'd love to own a sit-down Donkey Kong or Pac-Man machine. My boss has Gataca (sp) in an arcade game... freakin' rules!!

Yes, arcades were awesome. Now kids just sit in front of the TV and stare. At least in our day (I'm 30) we had to WALK into the arcade!!!

Where are you where your arcade closed down?

We still do that here where I live. And I usually leave my quarters in my pocket.
