It's still totally feasable, but he will need another season or even two too do it. I hope he does it, because he gets dogged from all sides, and what a middle finger would that be if he did it.

well he needs 19,i think not even if he does play next year,he just does not have much power left also he could get injured.but right now he has the best chance at it.im not a giants or bonds fan,but i would like 2 see the record be broken,im only 15 i didnt see aaron play.and i respect barry because he is a great player, not only did he hit homers but he stole bases,i believe he is the only member in the 500 club.

I'm inclined to think he won't, but for a different reason.

Despite what some people think, Bonds does, in fact, have a lot of respect for Aaron. He really showed little or no respect for Babe Ruth, and a lot of people (myself included) thought that was totally classless.

But I'm not so sure Bonds really wants to break Aaron's record. Ruth was white, and Bonds wanted desperately to pass him, which he of course did.

But in Aaron's case, Bonds doesn't quite have the same desire to pass Henry's record. Bond's father, Barry, was a team mate of Willie Mays, and of course played against Hank Aaron...Bonds has known these guys all his life, and he does have a tremendous amount of respect for what Aaron accomplished (Bonds must wonder every day how Aaron did what he did without steroids).

As far as criticism, Bonds will be criticized regardless of whether he passes Aaron or not... if he does pass Henry, of course everyone will say he only did it because of steroids. If he retires just before passing Aaron, sportswriters will still criticize him, because Bonds will then have robbed them of the above mentioned-criticism.

In spite of their claims to the contrary, there are a lot of writers (with a Hall of Fame vote) actually want Bonds to pass Aaron, just so they can say "I don't care if he's the all time HR leader, he's not getting MY HOF vote", as a way of throwing Bonds' arrogance back in his face. They've never liked Bonds from day one.

But no, I don't think Bonds will pass Aaron's record.

Barry Bonds' agent says that he may even hit 800. This will take at least three to four years and he has to be in the American League to do it because the steroids have killed his knee and he will not be able to play outfield for much longer. If he dh's for 150 games a year he can do it easily. He may break the record, but in my mind it will still stand.

since he has no respect for the game he will stick around long enough to break it. Some AL team will need a DH and that will take a load of his knees. He will have the record but nowhere near the respect that Hank Aaron gets, In the end Bonds and Rose will go out for beers together and speak of what should have been.
The saddest part of this whole mis-adventure is that Barry Bonds had the tools to make the Hall of Fame without steroids and now because of them he never will.

If he can continue to play like last night and he wants it he could take it. He would likely become a DH next season though. That would allow him to play a little more. Wouldn't be as hard on the knees as trying to play the outfield as well.

i'm no longer a great fan of PED's --- definite, i recognize many MLB gamers have used them, yet it is the concern, the place's the genuine hobby of the sport? basically considering you're taking PEDs does no longer recommend you're consistently going to prevail. Mentality continues to be mandatory. A-Rod and Bonds have been 2 of many that had fulfillment with them. i think of A-Rod can, i'm uncertain if he will. even although I misplaced my appreciate for Bonds, i'm hoping his checklist does no longer get broken. & no longer because of the fact A-Rod gets injured, yet because of the fact he basically won't be in a position to. i does no longer be chuffed to work out A-Rod ruin Gehrig's 23 grand slam checklist the two.

Not a chance...he'll be indicted before then. Greg Anderson will eventually break down and spill the beans.

It's such a shame...He would have 500 HR's without the steroids.

I'll say that he better not. For the sake of baseball, he should retire quietly just like Sosa and Palmiero did. The best thing for baseball woul dbe him not breaking the record. Records weren't made for cheaters.

No, I don't think he will. I think a deal will be struck that he retires after this season, and no charges will be filed in steroidgate.
