Orson Scott Card has a wonderful series you might enjoy. It is set in the U.S. "that might have been" in the mid 1800's.
It's called The Tales of Alvin Maker.
The first book is called Seventh Son.
Give it a try, you'll really enjoy it.

You may like Christopher Stasheff. His books are a bit more sci-fi and less history, but they deal a bit more with the meaning of being a christian during midevil times. I particularly recommend the Wizard in Rhyme series. The first book "Her Majesties Wizard is about a literature student who finds himself in a midevil European setting where poetry has the power of magic. Along the way he encounters a princess, a drunken dragon, and a priest who turns into a werewolf whenever he has impure thoughts.

Another series of his books includes The Warlock of Gramarye This set deals with an astronaught who lands on a planet and is mistaken for a magical being because of his technology.

Of course if your up for a good read, you could always check out Sir Thomas Malory's definitive Le Morte D'Arthur - This book is the definitive legend of King Arthur from before his birth, to pulling the Sword in the Stone and becoming king, to his death.

The Child Queen and The High Queen---- Nancy McKenzie

You just can't beat Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley, IMO.

Try Shining Falcon by Josepha Sherman

Lackey's historical works are pretty decent.
You'd probably enjoy Katherine Kurtz's Deryni series.

I really like George R.R. Martin, the Game of Thrones series. Also, for Historical fiction, the Rome series by Colleen McCullough is awesome. I know it's not medevil, but they are the best historical fiction series. It starts with 'The first man in Rome'. Hope this helps!

but some suggestions are to go to amazon and type in the others you do like and other authors that are similar to your liking will pop up ; another is to look at revies and synopsis of authors people here suggest so that you can ultimately decide what you like

i think it would also help if you were a bit more specific ; do you read ones that involve magic?
theres also romance or vamp historical books

All the other answers notwithstanding, I think your best bet is to go to Baen's Books on the web and sign up. From there you can go to Baen's Bar or the chat room and other sights including reading free e-books. And as an added bonus many of the authors' who write some of the books you are looking for also go either to the 'bar' or to the chat room. There is even a forum where you can ask questions and get answers from other people and from the authors'. Enjoy!

David Eddings, the Belgariad and Mallorean series, for epic fantasy.
Connie Willis, The Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog, for historical fiction.

George RR Martin--A Song of Ice and Fire (someone mentioned this earlier...but they said 'Game of Thrones,' which is the first book, but not the series name)

Scott Lynch--The Lies of Locke Lamora (Book 1 of the Gentleman Bastard series, Lynch's debut, but it is excellent)

I'd also suggest getting copies of the Legends anthologies, which are composed of short novellas by some of the masters of modern fantasy--Martin, Pratchett, Card, McCaffery, Le Guin, Jordan, etc., etc., that way you could see which writers you like without having to start a whole new series.
