It's probably been that way all those history. Most Americans or for that matter people from all over the world most likely don't know the language of their governments. It's relevant to their lives but it's not a conscience priority. Sad, maybe, but it doesn't mean people don't care. They do. That's why there are so many political stands taken in this website every day. The only problem is most really don't know how the government works.

Thats really a very sad fact but most people would rather watch tv than learn history. Think about the simpsons are funny and history is boring. I'm not saying that is great but its the truth.

yes very sad indeed but to be expected in the "progressive" society we find our selves in. I'm not a prude or a hypocrite when it comes to sex, being a young male American in the 70's I tried my hardest to "bag" a few hotties during my high school and college years then got married and am living ok. But I do object to the 3 new laws here in Ca. that just passed and are waiting for Swartzi to sign them. These are"progressive" bills dealing with middle school kids 8 to 13 saying that gay and lesbian and transsexual life styles should be taught in school as not just to be tolerated but as equal to heterosexual. Call me old fashioned or whatever but I just don't think that this subject is appropriate for that age group. they don't care about sex at that age or most don't I'm not judgeing this one way or the other but geez let the kids grow up play dodgeball little boys hock loogies fart in class just be kids while they are kids......am I wrong?.

Is ok... this is what natively human mind works... Human only remember things that impact or experience by them. The Amendment is something hard to really "experience" it, as compare to Simsons, where it is easily accessible and "experience" it from the media like TV, magazine... etc...
Furthermore, I think the Simsons generally is more interesting than the Amendment.

Typical. It's easier to sway opinions of a society that knows nothing of history or why our country even exists.
I'm not into conspiracies, but there MUST be a reason things like this is not taught in public schools.

That is completely sad...Even sadder? The teachers unions want teachers to earn MORE money for all their hard work...
If teachers (not ALL, but it seems more and more every year ) would worry more about the performance of their students than their Teachers Union, maybe we wouldn't be a nation of upcoming idiots...
Rant off.
